So the kids have made it through another stressful semester of mom being in college. She moved from exams straight into the busy Prom Season. (She’s a floral designer at the amazing Indigo Floral downtown Holland) This past Friday, Dana dropped them at the 36SQ Studio for our Open House. That was a great time, and I really liked the kids meeting some of the business people in my life.
The best part though, was Saturday morning. We were watching cartoons and they both thanked me for “letting them” hang out at my party.
I am so entirely relieved that they are so positive in their demeanor. From where I was standing, they were shuffled into the mix of a busy day. But they were just glad to have fun and be there. Man, I’m a lucky guy.
The Thirty-Six Stratagems are divided into a preface, six chapters containing six stratagems each, and an afterword that was incomplete with missing text. The first three chapters generally describe tactics for use in advantageous situations, whereas the last three chapters contain stratagems that are more suitable for disadvantageous situations. The original text of the Thirty-Six Stratagems has a laconic style that is common to Classical Chinese. Each proverb is accompanied by a short comment, no longer than a sentence or two, that explains how said proverb is applicable to military tactics. These 36 Chinese proverbs are related to 36 battle scenarios in Chinese history and folklore, predominantly of the Warring States Period and the Three Kingdoms Period.
I have added Flickr, Friendster, Plurk, Tumblr, FriendFeed, Jaiku, Bebo, Hi5, Koornk, Mashable, YouAre, iMeem, Vox, ShoutEm, and Utterli to my web weaving experiment. Next step is Pikchur an either iLike or Pandora. So far, so good.
I have been actively using an intertwined blog / social network / media sharing system for about 10 days now. When I started, searching Google.com for “Craig Tommola” (with quotes) resulted in 148 items. Without even doing much actual writing or creating of content – simply tossing around status messages and sharing links – I’ve increased my Google results to 173 items.
Realistically, that’s a very basic example of how Social Networking can increase both your presence online and your association to specific search terms. My woven web currently consists of interactions (both push and pull of content, as well as interlinking) between facebook, twitter, wordpress, blogspot, aim, linked in, myspace, google talk, picasa, youtube, google docs, delicious, instapaper and google reader.
